It was supposed to be a compliment. I think.

I made a Joy of Cooking recipe tonight. Cannelloni. As soon as I saw the recipe in the "Pasta" chapter I remembered the deliciousness that was the cannelloni from Clemenza's, and I knew I had to try it.
And so the girls and I rolled out and cut fresh dough for whole-wheat pasta. And I chopped and sauteed mushrooms, onions, spinach and chicken for the filling. I made Bechamel sauce. I seasoned and stirred in two kinds of cheese. I hand-rolled the pasta into little tubes and stuffed them with all that cooked-from-scratch deliciousness.
Yes, it was a lot of work, but I love cooking, so it was fun for me.
I set the dish of cannelloni triumphantly on the table. We all tasted the first bite. And then...the moment of truth.
"It's good," my dear husband said. "This filling--is this Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup?"
And any ideas I had about impressing my husband with my culinary skill flew right out the window.

Oh, Eric, Eric, Eric. I hope you set the record straight! :) I'm so impressed at all of the cooking straight from scratch that you do. :)
So...is Eric still alive?
This is hilarious!
that's pretty funny Jen. :) Do you have to have a pasta maker or do you do it by hand? I'd love your recipe for whole wheat pasta!
